About the role
This is a senior/lead-level engineering role owning the technical direction of the data platform team at a consumer debt-resolution fintech company. It suits an experienced data engineer who has led the technical direction of a team, is deeply fluent in SQL, and is ready to set standards for pipelines, replication and incident response. The role is fully remote, worldwide.
What you’ll do
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for the team's pipelines, integrations and datastores.
- Translate broad leadership goals into concrete work for the team.
- Set standards for infra-as-code, schema contracts, observability, testing and on-call practices.
- Guide replication pipelines syncing Salesforce data into Aurora and Postgres via Informatica and Fivetran.
- Set direction for production Postgres databases, covering performance, indexing, access control and migration review.
- Oversee outbound and inbound partner data jobs, including validation and reprocessing.
- Mentor engineers through code review and lead the team through production incidents.
What they’re looking for
- 8+ years building and operating production data systems, including owning technical direction of a team or major initiative.
- Deep SQL expertise including query optimization, indexing and schema design.
- Strong command of replication/ETL tooling such as Fivetran, Informatica or Airbyte.
- Working knowledge of AWS, GCP or Azure data services.
- Comfort writing and reviewing Ruby on Rails or a comparable language.
- Ability to define schema contracts across teams you don't fully control.
