About the role

This is an applied scientist role on Amazon's GRAISE team in Bengaluru, focused on computer vision for physical grocery stores. It suits a scientist with a PhD or master's who wants to take models from research prototype to production at scale. What you’ll do

  • Design, train and evaluate computer vision and ML models for grocery-domain problems
  • Conduct exploratory data analysis to characterize image variability, catalog gaps and label noise
  • Own the model development lifecycle from experimentation through production deployment
  • Design offline and online evaluation frameworks and diagnose failure modes
  • Build data pipelines and annotation workflows, including active learning strategies
  • Communicate technical trade-offs and results to engineering, product and business stakeholders

  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications
  • PhD or master's degree
  • Experience with patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed venues
  • Programming experience in Java, C++, Python or a related language

Nice to have

  • 2+ years building and deploying computer vision models (detection, classification, segmentation, visual search) on real-world data
  • Experience taking a model from prototype to production including latency optimization
  • Experience with noisy or sparse training data, semi-supervised or active learning, weak supervision or synthetic data
  • Experience building annotation pipelines and human-in-the-loop workflows
  • Track record documenting experiments and communicating to cross-functional partners
