About the role
This is a six-month contract for a functional data analyst supporting a large-scale enterprise data transformation, based in the GTA or Montreal with two days onsite per week. It suits an experienced data or business analyst comfortable bridging business and technical teams. The work brings data from multiple internal and external systems into a governed, consumption-ready platform. You'll work closely with product owners, architects, data engineers and data quality engineers through Altis, a staffing agency.
What you’ll do
- Analyze existing systems and data sources to identify gaps and requirements for future-state data products.
- Create source-to-target mappings and document data structures, lineage and transformations.
- Use SQL to validate requirements, investigate data and support data quality activities.
- Partner with data engineers to clarify requirements and support pipeline development.
- Define business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and validation rules in Jira.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to support governed and traceable data.
- Contribute to data contracts, metadata and data product practices.
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years as a functional data analyst, data analyst, business analyst or similar.
- Hands-on experience with source-to-target mapping, data validation and data quality in complex enterprise environments.
- Strong SQL knowledge and ability to analyze and validate data.
- Understanding of data lineage, relational data structures and system-to-system data flows.
- Strong communication, facilitation and documentation skills across technical and business teams.
- Experience with Jira and Agile delivery methodologies.
Nice to have
- Salesforce exposure.
- Knowledge of data products, data contracts, BI, analytics or AI.
