About the role
This is a full-time data privacy strategist role, staffed through Yoush Consulting, focused on health information privacy for an Ontario government-related project in Toronto. It suits someone who can interpret FIPPA, PHIPA and related data-sharing agreements and apply them to a real project's data practices. You'd advise on privacy risk, policy interpretation and communication across technical, business and executive audiences.
What you’ll do
- Interpret and apply FIPPA, PHIPA, Data Sharing Agreements and HINP agreements to the project
- Assess existing policies, regulations and data access models against privacy frameworks
- Develop an integrated project plan and provide weekly status reports on deliverables and risks
- Coordinate across branches and prepare briefing notes and executive presentations
- Consult stakeholders across the organization on privacy topics
- Communicate privacy topics to technical, business and non-privacy audiences
- Provide privacy advice and deliverables for the project
- Conduct or lead privacy impact assessments in a health context
- Identify and map business processes and data flow diagrams for data practices
- Develop options and recommended solutions to privacy issues
- Provide privacy risk assessments and mitigation strategies during implementation

- Strong understanding of Ontario's healthcare system, structures and stakeholder groups
- Strong understanding of the ministry's role and its delivery partners
- Strong knowledge of provincial health system data (clinical, administrative, statistical, financial)
- Strong knowledge of Ontario's digital health systems, programs, vendors and solutions
- Strong understanding of Ontario privacy regulations and frameworks for personal health information
- Demonstrated experience conducting or leading privacy impact assessments in health
- Demonstrated experience interpreting information management legislation (PHIPA, FIPPA, Public Hospitals Act, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, Primary Care Act)
- Demonstrated experience with privacy policy and impact analysis for data collection, use and disclosure
- Demonstrated experience developing mitigation strategies for privacy risk
- Demonstrated experience mapping business processes and data flows
- Strong stakeholder collaboration and communication skills
- Ability to synthesize complex ideas into plain language for diverse audiences
