About the role
This is a mid-level fullstack engineering role at VMO, a software outsourcing firm, based in Hanoi Vietnam and available as a remote night-shift position (9 PM to 5/6 AM GMT+7). You'll own both frontend and backend code quality for an international enterprise client, working with high autonomy and minimal real-time supervision during daytime hours. The role combines independent feature development, technical architecture and direct client collaboration in English.
What you’ll do
- Take full ownership of feature implementation, code quality and refactoring across web applications and backend microservices
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and gRPC services with proper async handling and caching strategies
- Lead architectural discussions and enforce design patterns for security and performance
- Work independently to unblock technical challenges without real-time daytime supervision
- Conduct structured daily handover reports with daytime technical leads
- Act as the direct engineering touchpoint for international client stakeholders during their daytime hours
- Clarify user stories, review pull requests and demo completed outputs in English
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices and processes
What they’re looking for
- 4 to 7 years of intensive software engineering experience
- Proficiency in TypeScript, modern JavaScript, HTML5 and CSS3/PostCSS
- Strong experience with React and state management (Hooks, Context, Zustand)
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC, GraphQL and microservices architecture
- Backend expertise with Node.js (v18+ LTS) and TypeScript in strict mode
- Experience with PostgreSQL and SQL (Postgres dialect)
- Proficiency with Drizzle ORM or similar database tools
- Familiarity with AWS and GCP cloud environments and CI/CD pipelines
- Git workflow expertise and cloud infrastructure knowledge
- Fluent English (listening, speaking, reading, writing) without intermediaries
- Ability to work full night shift Monday to Friday (GMT+7)
- Experience in a dedicated model with enterprise clients
Nice to have
- Experience with distributed systems and service mesh architectures
- Familiarity with local development tooling (Telepresence, Podman, LocalStack)
- Experience mentoring or leading a small engineering team
- Knowledge of high-load microservices environments
- TailwindCSS or CSS Modules experience
