About the role
This is a contract Data Engineer role, fully remote within Canada, for someone who can build and run production-grade batch and streaming data pipelines. It suits an experienced engineer who is comfortable owning both pipeline infrastructure and the analytics-ready data models that sit on top of it. The contract runs 12 weeks.
What you’ll do
- Build and support production batch and streaming data pipelines.
- Develop analytics-ready data models to support business operations.
- Work with distributed, global teams on delivery.
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of data engineering or distributed systems experience.
- Hands-on experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Airflow, Python, Java, and SQL.
- Experience with batch and streaming pipelines in production.
- Strong dimensional data modeling / star-schema experience.
- Experience with data quality, automated testing, CI/CD, Git, code reviews, and production troubleshooting.
- Strong communication skills for distributed/global team collaboration.
Nice to have
- Experience with Apache Flink, Iceberg, Snowflake, and AWS.
