About the role
This is a senior strategy role advising a global public health organization and its government partners on data architecture, digital systems and responsible AI adoption. It suits an experienced data/digital health strategist who can bridge public health, technology and policy stakeholders and has worked with government health institutions. The role is remote and open to candidates in the US, UK, Nigeria, Ethiopia, India or Rwanda.
What you’ll do
- Advise program and country teams on data architecture, quality, interoperability and governance.
- Identify and prioritize high-value opportunities for AI to improve public health decision-making.
- Guide structured assessment of proposed AI use cases for feasibility, value, equity, privacy and sustainability.
- Advise on build/buy/adapt/partner decisions for data- and AI-enabled solutions.
- Build organizational capability in data and AI through training and coaching.
- Advise governments and partners on data architecture and responsible AI adoption.
- Represent the organization in technical forums and partnerships.
What they’re looking for
- At least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in data, digital health, health information systems, analytics or applied AI.
- Experience working with Ministries of Health or national public health institutions.
- Demonstrated experience with data architecture, interoperability, governance and metadata.
- Experience translating public health problems into practical data or AI approaches.
- Experience assessing digital or AI initiatives for feasibility, value and risk.
- Master's degree or equivalent advanced training in public health, health informatics, data science or a related field.
Nice to have
- Experience in primary health care, cardiovascular health or epidemic preparedness.
- Familiarity with FHIR/HL7, WHO SMART Guidelines, DHIS2 or OpenMRS/OpenHIE.
- Experience applying AI or advanced analytics to real-world public health problems.
- Proficiency in additional languages beyond English.
