About the role
This is a customer-facing technical support role at MongoDB, based in the Gurugram office on a hybrid schedule. It suits an engineer with systems, networking or database operations experience who enjoys solving complex production problems directly with customers. The team troubleshoots the full MongoDB ecosystem, including the database server, drivers, Atlas and Cloud Manager.
What you’ll do
- Work with large customers to resolve complex issues spanning architecture, performance, recovery and security.
- Advise customers on best practices for running MongoDB at scale.
- Advocate for customer needs with product management and development teams.
- Contribute to internal tooling for performance, benchmarking and diagnostics.
What they’re looking for
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Systems engineering experience: Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, security, networking, clusters.
- Understanding of core Kubernetes concepts including containers, namespaces and multi-cluster deployments.
- Understanding of networking protocols such as DNS, TCP/IP and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience: NAS, SAN, SSD, multi-pathing, caching.
- Experience building and maintaining mission-critical production database systems.
- Ability to read code and basic scripting ability in a language such as Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js or Go.
- Willingness and ability to rapidly learn new technical skills.
- Comfort collaborating in a team environment and knowing when to seek help.
Nice to have
- Experience managing large-scale databases (RDBMS or NoSQL).
- Experience with authentication systems such as LDAP, Kerberos or AD.
- Prior hands-on MongoDB experience.
- Experience with git and distributed version control.
- Experience with a cloud stack such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including CLI inspection of containers.
