About the role
This is a data scientist role on McKinsey's OptimusAI team, based in Gurugram or Bengaluru, focused on manufacturing analytics. You'll work in small multi-disciplinary pods to lift plant performance for industrial clients such as energy, metals and chemicals producers. The team of roughly ten consultants, data scientists and engineers builds real-time AI advisory tools for plant control rooms and helps optimize process control systems.
What you’ll do
- Work alongside client process engineers and analytics specialists to improve areas like energy efficiency and product quality
- Present findings and recommendations to executive audiences
- Collaborate with McKinsey's product engineers on analytics tools and algorithms
- Help codify best practices and shape the OptimusAI product roadmap
- Travel to client sites, locally and internationally
What they’re looking for
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, machine learning or a related field
- 4+ years of relevant experience in advanced analytics, ideally in heavy industry such as mining, metals or chemicals
- Ability to write clean, efficient Python code, ideally with cloud experience (AWS, GCP or Azure)
- Experience implementing and maintaining MLOps pipelines
- DevOps and backend skills including CI/CD, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
- Strong independent organizational skills
- Willingness to travel for client assignments
