About the role
This is an on-site Senior AI Engineer role in Bengaluru for an experienced engineer designing the systems behind AI-powered hiring products. You'll define and ship agent, retrieval, orchestration, and evaluation systems that turn model outputs into dependable product capabilities. The role sits on Employ's AI Foundations team and carries architectural responsibility across the platform.
What you’ll do
- Architect and deliver end-to-end AI systems, including agents and RAG pipelines.
- Define workflow contracts, state strategies, and safety controls.
- Own API contracts with reliable, authenticated, rate-limited, and idempotent behavior.
- Build validation, retry, fallback, and failure-containment mechanisms.
- Create evaluation systems for benchmarking, regression checks, and drift detection.
- Set observability standards for logging, telemetry, tracing, and performance.
- Turn experimental AI capabilities into secure production services.
- Establish architectural patterns and mentor engineers.
What they’re looking for
- At least four years building AI-enabled product capabilities involving LLMs, RAG, agents, or orchestration.
- Experience with event-driven systems and asynchronous workflows using tools such as Kafka, SQS, or BullMQ.
- Experience managing persistent state, context windows, concurrency, and race conditions.
- Experience enforcing structured outputs with Pydantic, Zod, or JSON Schema.
- Strong API design knowledge across REST, GraphQL, or RPC.
- Python experience including asyncio and modern language features.
- TypeScript and Node.js experience for application-layer integration.
- Experience with orchestration frameworks, hybrid retrieval, reranking, chunking, SQL optimization, and containers.
Nice to have
- Pinecone, pgvector, or Weaviate experience.
- Running isolated environments for code execution.
- Experience with Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms.
