About the role
This is a hybrid Agentic AI Developer role at Azurity Pharmaceuticals in Raleigh, North Carolina, building AI agents that automate internal business processes. You'd design and build agents that use large language models to plan, reason and execute multi-step tasks across the company's systems. It suits a software developer with at least a year of hands-on experience with LLMs or agentic AI who is comfortable working in a regulated industry.
What you’ll do
- Design AI agents that plan, reason and execute multi-step tasks such as data retrieval and document generation
- Integrate agents with internal and third-party systems via APIs, MCP servers and tool-calling frameworks
- Build and maintain orchestration layers for multi-agent workflows, including error handling and retries
- Implement human-in-the-loop checkpoints for agent actions
What they’re looking for
- 3+ years of professional software development experience, including 1+ year with LLMs or agentic AI systems
- Strong proficiency in Python or a similar language, with LLM API experience (Anthropic, OpenAI or similar)
- Hands-on experience building tool-calling or function-calling agents
- Familiarity with agent orchestration concepts such as ReAct and planning/reflection loops
- Experience with RAG, vector databases and embedding models
- Solid understanding of API design and asynchronous systems
- Experience implementing evaluation, observability and safety guardrails for AI systems in production
- Comfort working in a regulated industry with attention to data privacy and compliance
Nice to have
- Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare or other regulated industries
- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol or similar tool-integration standards
- Experience with enterprise systems such as Veeva, Salesforce, ERP or ITSM platforms
- Background in prompt engineering and LLM fine-tuning/evaluation
- Exposure to AWS, Azure, GCP and MLOps practices
