About the role
This is a Data Engineer II role on the analytics team at Avalon Healthcare Solutions, based in Tampa, Florida with remote eligibility. You'll build and maintain the ETL pipelines and data infrastructure that feed the business intelligence team and internal and external clients. The role suits someone comfortable owning data quality end to end, from pipeline monitoring through documentation, in a healthcare diagnostics environment. Quarterly travel to the Tampa office is required even though the position works remotely day to day.
What you’ll do
- Monitor, maintain, and improve production data pipelines and processes
- Build new ETL processes that extract data from multiple sources
- Support analytics teams and tools using data warehouse products
- Automate data pipelines, monitoring, and maintenance tasks
- Participate in code review and version control changes
- Partner with stakeholders to understand and deliver on their data needs
- Curate data for advanced analytics and data science use
- Ensure data accuracy, quality, security, integrity, and reliability
- Maintain documentation for data, ETLs, processes, and repositories

- Familiarity with agile software development practices
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience supporting data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI

- Proficiency in an object-oriented language such as Python
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards such as HL7, EDI, or FHIR
