About the role
Astra North Infoteck Inc. is hiring an AWS Data Engineer for a contract role based in Toronto, Canada. You will migrate data warehousing workloads from IBM Netezza to AWS while building scalable data pipelines and lakes. This mid-level role suits professionals with five or more years of banking or financial domain experience and hands-on AWS data engineering skills.
What you’ll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows on AWS.
- Build and manage data lakes and data warehouses using Amazon S3, Redshift, and related services.
- Develop ETL/ELT processes using AWS Glue, Lambda, or Spark.
- Optimize data ingestion, transformation, and loading processes.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and security compliance.
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and workflows.
- Automate deployments using CI/CD pipelines for performance, cost optimization, and scalability.
- Coordinate with clients and stakeholders to merge feature requirements into reusable design patterns.
- Analyze existing Netezza code and implement corresponding features in the AWS Data Lake environment.
- Perform unit testing and support QA, SIT, and performance testing.
- Lead migration of data to production environments.
