This is a principal data scientist consulting role at Insight, focused on clinical and healthcare/life sciences AI, with a preference for candidates near Nashville, TN. The role helps healthcare organizations design and operationalize generative AI, machine learning, and agentic AI solutions built on Google Cloud. It suits someone with 10+ years of experience in data science or applied AI delivery, ideally in consulting or enterprise client environments. This is a client-facing role bridging clinical stakeholders, engineering teams, and executive leadership.

What you’ll do

  • Lead design of AI and ML solutions for healthcare use cases including clinical decision support and workflow automation
  • Design and guide implementation of generative AI solutions using Vertex AI, Gemini, and RAG patterns
  • Architect and prototype agentic AI solutions for clinical and operational workflows with human oversight
  • Develop machine learning approaches for classification, prediction, summarization, and document intelligence
  • Evaluate data quality, lineage, and clinical workflow fit before advancing AI use cases into production
  • Define evaluation strategies for accuracy, bias, safety, drift, and explainability
  • Serve as senior technical advisor to client leaders on AI roadmaps and business value
  • Mentor data scientists, engineers, and consultants, and build reusable delivery playbooks

  • 10+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, healthcare analytics, or applied AI delivery
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare operations, and patient data
  • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud AI and data services, especially Vertex AI, Gemini, and BigQuery
  • Practical experience designing generative AI and agentic solutions including prompt engineering and RAG architectures
  • Strong foundation in supervised and unsupervised learning, NLP, and production ML lifecycle practices
  • Understanding of healthcare data sensitivity, PHI protection, and AI governance
  • Exceptional communication skills for translating technical complexity to business audiences

Nice to have

  • Google Cloud Professional Machine Learning Engineer or Professional Data Engineer certification
  • Databricks Machine Learning or TensorFlow certification
  • Certifications or training related to HIPAA, clinical analytics, or Responsible AI
