About the role
This is a senior full-stack engineering role for a Canada-based professional who combines production Go backend work with native mobile development. You'll own features end to end, from high-throughput services and relational data systems to iOS or Android experiences, while working remotely during Pacific Time business hours.
What you’ll do
- Design, deploy, and operate APIs, databases, migrations, event flows, and mobile interfaces.
- Build high-concurrency Go services and participate in on-call coverage.
- Define client-server contracts, API versions, synchronization behavior, retries, and authentication lifecycles.
- Develop native features with Swift and SwiftUI or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.
- Write architecture records and system-design documents.
- Perform detailed code reviews.
What they’re looking for
- At least six years of professional software-development experience.
- At least three years using Go as a primary backend language.
- Evidence of operating backend services at meaningful production scale.
- Deep production experience with iOS or Android, including an app personally shipped and maintained after launch.
- Hands-on experience designing mobile and backend integration, including offline behavior, synchronization, idempotency, and token management.
- Advanced PostgreSQL skills covering queries, indexing, data modeling, and migrations.
- On-call experience for systems you built and deployed.
- Daily use of AI coding tools with careful review of generated code.
- Strong written English for technical documentation and code reviews.
- Canadian residency and eligibility to work in Canada.
- Availability during Pacific Time business hours.
Nice to have
- Experience with gRPC, Protocol Buffers, Kafka, NATS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
- Experience with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Docker, Kubernetes, or Terraform.
- PostgreSQL performance tuning and zero-downtime migration experience.
- Offline-first mobile architecture, local mobile security, push notifications, or Kotlin Multiplatform.
- Mobile delivery automation with Fastlane, Bitrise, or Xcode Cloud.
- Agency, studio, consultancy, public technical writing, or open-source experience.
