About the role
This is a full-time, on-site overnight bread baker position with Blackbird Baking Company at its Riverside location in Toronto, Ontario, suited to someone with at least one year of commercial baking experience. You'll prepare sourdough and other breads at industrial scale, help lead the bakery team and maintain production standards during overnight shifts.
What you’ll do
- Mix dough and scale ingredients accurately.
- Shape baguettes and sourdough loaves.
- Bake bread products.
- Clean the bakery each day.
- Guide the baking team through its daily work list.
- Support an efficient and positive workplace.
What they’re looking for
- At least one year of commercial restaurant or bakery baking experience is required.
- Weekend availability is required.
- You must be able to work overnight shifts.
- You must be able to lift at least 25 kilograms and remain on your feet throughout the shift.
- You must be eligible to work in Canada.
Nice to have
- Interest in industrial-scale bread production.
- Experience with sourdough, baguettes, focaccia or ciabatta.
What’s on offer

- Pay of $20 to $24 per hour.
- A four-day work week with 10-hour shifts and a three-day weekend.
- Possible shift windows are 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. or 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.
- Expected hours are 40 to 44 per week.
